Dr John O’Bryen
Specialist General Practitioner with a special interest in skin cancer
Skin cancer doctor, Dr John O’Bryen, has done further training in skin cancer medicine and surgery. He was born in Buderim and raised in Toowoomba. He attended Toowoomba Grammar School and graduated with his medical degree from The University of Queensland in 2013.
Dr O’Bryen performs skin cancer checks and is trained in the surgical and non-surgical management of skin cancers, including the use of skin flaps and grafts when required. He finds and treats over 1,000 skin cancers per year. He works closely with local surgeons, dermatologists and radiation oncologists to achieve the best outcomes for his patients. He advocates for his patients and ensures they are listened to and thoroughly examined. Dr Renuka Ranasinghe (starting April 2026)
Specialist General Practitioner with a special interest in skin cancer
Dr Renuka Sharon Ranasinghe qualified in 1990 at the Royal Free Hospital, London, UK. She later moved to Cambridge, UK where she worked as a GP as well as a clinical assistant in dermatology and skin cancer at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, UK. This involved many WWII veterans from the East Anglian Regiment who had been in Libya, Egypt, Africa who had extensive solar damaged skin.
In 2010, Dr Renuka moved to Western Australia where she later worked solely in the field of skin cancer checks, surgical procedures and helping patients with dermatological issues. She has attended multiple surgical and dermoscopy masterclasses and skin cancer conferences over the years and now has 20 years experience in skin cancer and dermatology clinical work.
In 2024 she moved to Queensland to continue skin cancer and dermatology work. In her spare time Dr Renuka cares for her 2 adopted rescued dogs and enjoys swimming. In 2021 her biggest achievement was completing the Rottnest channel SOLO swim in six and a half hours.

Mrs Temi Lyng
Dermal Therapist
You can get a skin cancer check with Temi. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Dermal Therapies and a Professional Diploma in Dermoscopy. She has spent the last 10 years conducting skin checks in various workplaces Australia wide, where she has developed the skills to detect early melanoma and skin cancers. During this time she has also worked in a clinic based setting providing comprehensive skin checks and mole mapping services. Temi is passionate about skin health and education while maintaining her patient-centred approach.
Temi is not a doctor and therefore does not perform biopsies, excisions, referrals, medical certificates or scripts. If Temi finds a skin lesion of concern, you can rebook to see one of our doctors (their fees apply), or you are welcome to see your regular GP. A skin check with Ms Temi Lyng costs $99. Temi can perform cryotherapy or cautery of some skin lesions such as solar keratoses, seborrhoeic keratoses, skin tags and angiomas for an extra $50. No Medicare or private health rebates apply. Businesses can pay to have their employees have checks by Temi. Payment on the day with EFTPOS is required.

Ms Carly Whytcross
Dermal Clinician
Visiting Body Scan Skin Cancer Clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Ms Carly Whytcross provides advanced laser treatments using the K-Laser Blue Derma. She specialises in the removal of benign lesions, including age spots, moles, skin tags, angiomas, capillaries, venous lakes, sebaceous hyperplasia, milia and more. Carly also offers photobiomodulation therapy for pain relief, wound healing, acne, rosacea and inflammatory skin conditions. Additional services include pigmentation improvement and skin revitalisation with non-ablative fractional laser. Carly is a university qualified dermal clinician, and trains other health professionals to use laser.
A recent skin cancer check and clearance letter is required prior to any laser treatment and this can be performed by your own doctor or at Body Scan Skin Cancer Clinic by Dr John O’Bryen or Mrs Temi Lyng.
